Inspection Service

OSHA requires a periodic inspection and the establishment of a preventive maintenance program for all overhead lifting equipment. The frequency of the OSHA required inspection will vary according to the duty cycle (frequency of use) of the unit. OSHA mandates have been established in the interest of worker safety. Overhead lifting presents inherent risk, and where such hazards for equipment damage and personal injury exist, it is necessary to properly maintain overhead lifting equipment in order to minimize and reduce these risks and costs.

To effectively utilize your crane or hoist for its designed duty, it should be inspected prior to initial use (initial inspection), on a daily to monthly schedule for obvious visual concerns, and on a monthly to annual schedule for a more detailed inspection of all load bearing and wear parts, including gears, bearings, brakes, wire ropes, hooks, shackles, etc. Regulations require that these inspections be performed by a “qualified” person.

Standard Crane is fully qualified to perform all inspections and tests required or recommended by the governing bodies of our industry, including OSHA, ANSI, NEC, and the original equipment manufacturer.

Bridge Crane and Jib Crane Modification and Upgrade

In many cases, customers have a need to upgrade the lifting capacity of their existing cranes and hoists, or to retrofit their existing equipment to fit their ever-changing need to optimize the productivity of their plant operations. Standard Crane regularly assists customers in upgrading the capacity of their cranes, in moving cranes and hoists to fit new plant operational layouts, such as extending crane rail, and to modernize older equipment to bring it up to modern-day technology. This would include modifications for wireless remote controls, soft-start variable frequency motor controls, panel box upgrades, and electrification/grounding issues.

OSHA Crane Inspection and Load Testing Business

Standard Crane & Hoist utilizes the state-of-the-art InspectAll system to catalog and report on OSHA mandated periodic inspections and load tests of overhead lifting equipment.
