News
Upon attainment of our 100th year in business (as of Oct. 21, 2009), we want to thank the countless
THOUSANDS of employees and customers who have made our run in business such a great success.
Originally founded in downtown New Orleans in 1909 as the Standard Supply
Company, we have maintained state-wide operations since the 1920's. As the
times have changed, so has our business (including a name change in 2006), but one thing has always remained the
same: A commitment from each employee to great customer service!
Did you know??? Standard has been a Yale Hoist master
distributor as far back as 1929? The Standard Supply General
Catalogue "C" dated 1929 shows a Yale 6-ton electric wire rope hoist on Page 337
for either A/C or D/C service.
Standard Crane employs Field ID Crane Inspection Software.
This system for crane inspection data management insures fast and efficient
crane safety inspections, as well as, comprehensive and timely inspection
reports and corrective action reports. Note that Field ID has
undergone a major upgrade in 2009, and now employs new 'cloud computing' web-based technological advancements.
Ask us how Field ID can simplify the task of tracking your periodic inspections (as
required by OSHA).
A unique job: Below are 2 pictures taken at the completion of a
job in October, 2009, which consisted of a rebuild on a gantry crane end truck.
If you notice, a hydraulic jack had been fabricated to jack up one end of the crane
end truck (picture 1) while the pins were pulled and the end truck was dismounted for off-site repair.
After a gear, wheel, and electric motor overhaul, the end truck was painted up and
re-installed. This whole job was completed in record time at a
cost several times less than the cost of a new end truck. In picture 2,
the jack has been removed and wiring is being completed. Standard Crane
specializes in creative maintenance and repair jobs such as this one for a major
utility company.
